What is a LIVE LOOK BOOK?

Ever since we posted the invitation to our first LOVE LOOK BOOK on Thursday, April 22nd at JB's Kitchen & Bar during the Fashion Happy Hour, many of you have asked, "What is a Live Look Book?"

A Look Book is similar to a catalog or portfolio, compiling whatever it is a person or company is presenting. It is heavily used in the fashion industry for collections, models and photographers.

A Live Look Book, is what our Brand Development Company, the balance group/tbg, came up with while brainstorming on what to call the type of showcase we wanted to emulate. Since MIAU Fashion operates as a boutique, we felt that producing a Fashion Show down a runway was out of our element and not focused on our goals.

The Live Look Book tbg developed for MIAU Fashion allows people to see our collections on models with different body types, get styling techniques and secrets, ask questions, and tell us what styles you would like added to future collections - unlike at a fashion show. We bring the featured looks for guests to purchase instead of waiting for the line to launch the following season.

We invite you to MIAU Fashion's first LIVE LOOK BOOK on Thursday, April 22nd from 5p - 9p at JB's Kitchen & Bar to experience firsthand!

Sandra Ortiz: MIAU Fashion, Founder

Sandra Ortiz has had a lifetime passion for fashion. From age 16, Sandra began purchasing stylish clothing for friends as a hobby while at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellin, Colombia studying Social Work.

Her hobby become more and more professional as her friends and classmates loved her choices and great eye for trends that she started selling clothing and expanding her clientele to nearby Universities.

After graduating in 2002, ambitious for more opportunities, Sandra moved to Miami, FL, where she worked in fashion retail, while learning English and the business of fashion. In January 2007, Sandra decided to take a leap of faith and start-up her hobby again of purchasing clothing and styling her friends and associates. Following her dream and realizing she was great at it, Sandra developed the beginning of MIAU Fashion.

Sandra quickly began working with Gen Art and Shecky’s, which specialized in shopping shows around the country. Learning quickly and growing rapidly, Sandra traveled across the US, to New York, the Hamptons, Boston, Dallas, Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Vegas and Miami, building her clientele and friendships with women that loved the clothing of MIAU Fashion.

Building on the success of the shows, Sandra knew that having an online presence would allow her to further capitalize her business by expanding her distribution. Sandra wanted to share the MIAU Fashion style with as many women and men as possible. The online boutique is the perfect way for MIAU Fashion to have long term relationships with all her customers she met during the nationwide shows.

Sandra loves interacting with her clients by learning their style, providing personal attention, and making custom choices based on these factors. MIAU Fashion also offers complimentary tailoring for her local Miami Clients as a valued added service. Her approach with MIAU Fashion makes each of her clients feel special and beautiful, as if they were being helped by a friend.

MIAU Fashion’s business principles are ensuring that each client is satisfied and comfortable with the clothing. Sandra, herself, even visits certain clients in their home, making it convenient for busy people or those getting ready for a special occasion. Sandra also lets certain clients come to the MIAU Fashion Showroom to enjoy the same service and attention of a personal shopper and stylist.

Our dear friend and client Beau Beasley, formerly of CBS's Big Brother and Miami Socialite, hostws a Fashion Lunch Party at his condo on Friday, March 19th for his fabulous girlfriends.

Any of MIAU Fashion's clients can host private parties in their home or office with a minimum of 10 friends.

MIAU Fashion eagerly participated in A Better Way : Miami's First Pop-Up Boutique Event held on March 3, 2010 at the exclusive La Piaggia Beach Club in Miami Beach. Welcome to the MIAU Fashion's Blog!

As a Concierge and Online Boutique, we knew we were missing something.

Hosting events & private parties, styling our VIP clients in their homes, and completing orders from our online boutique, are great, but we realize it is all a one-way experience.

With this blog all of us can share feedback and reviews of our clothing and services with each other.

We all want trusted opinions on clothing and the way we look. Since MIAU Fashion is also a Concierge Boutique, we listen to what each of you shares with us and make stylish choices and service enhancements based on this exchange.
